Ripple Affect

I heard this message today, “The people who love you for who you are, will most likely always love you for who you are, but you are the only one who truly knows if you are honoring that love by consistently working to be the best possible you can be.”  I’m paraphrasing a bit, but you get the message.  I think that idea is pretty powerful.

Every choice we make has a ripple effect which will influence not only those closest to us, but also most everyone we interact with on a daily basis.  The choice to get that workout done instead of skip, to eat the right foods instead of junk, and to be honest and open in your business transactions.  Great choices, give us confidence and reinforce belief, enabling us to be our best selves.  Choices that compromise our values and commitment to excellence steal our momentum and push us down, and as a result we give back to those who truly care for us a fraction of who we should be.

We honor those who are most important to us by making decisions that represent our commitment to be the best individual we can be.  That is the only way we can be the best teammate possible.  Whether it’s your faith team, family/friends team, or business team; your choices bring honor, or dishonor, to your hierarchy of priorities.

Before you move forward with any decision, ask yourself this question, “Does this choice uphold my hierarchy of priorities and commitment to excellence?”

Live with excellence, Derek Newcomer.
